I picked up an 1872 with a wonderful 60" deck a few years ago and have done relaitvely little to it. I just recently put a new carb on it because it was acting up. Wow, what a difference /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Anyway I have been looking at new tractors and can't seem to come to grips with parting from a "real tractor" and downgrading to something with a 54" deck. I certainly don't want to pay for a new one with a 60" deck.
I think I just talked myself into keeping the 1872.
Anything to look for or to watch out for with it. I use it mainly to cut grass and pull an odd trailer or 2 around the yard to hook up to the truck.
The PTO (switch) is acting up. IT will engage the deck but it will not stay on. I have it rigged to stay in the on position for now. The PTO (clutch?) was replaced last year and it is working fine when the switch is thrown.
The engine runs great and everything seems to be in good working order except the switch.
I think I just talked myself in to atleast one more year with it or trying to sell it for a rediculous amount ( /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ).
