Have 19.5 hours on the new 1460 and almost time to refill the fuel tank for the 2nd time. It seems like it can get 10 hours of use per tank. This is light to medium work, pulling small trees, stacking them, then grabbing the pile and carrying about 1/4 mile and cutting firewood like in the attached picture where it got a little lite in the loafers.

Great photo. How do you control the grapple?

All the best, Peter

Nice grapple. I remember the post you were thinking of getting that style. Could use that for the land clearing i have been doing cause I have trees in the way.
On the fuel consumption, I typically run for about half the day and it seems like I put about 5 gallons in and I am full again.
I dont know if this is good or not but I dont seem to need full engine power to work at a pace that is satisfactory to me. I run at about 75 percent engine speed (at a point where the engine vibration seems to be very low) and just go with that.
Somewhere I read that people run at 100 engine speed. I just don't think that is necessary for me as everything works well for me at about 75 percent engine throttle.

Same as my 1430, I installed a diverter valve in the hoist (loader raise/lower) circuit. Then a Scorpion joy stick that has a trigger and 2 push buttons. The trigger switch changes from hoist up/down to implement, so that closes/opens the grapple. Rayan's log grapple comes with it's own diverter valve to change to rotate, so I wired it for a push button on the joy stick to rotate the grapple.
It is much faster as you might expect not having to remove your hand from the loader control handle to change over to the implement. Takes a while and I am still learning, to not have to move the lever, just actuate the switch. For instance when you grab a log by pulling back on the loader control and squeezing the trigger then just release the trigger after it grasp the log and the loader starts to raise.
I was thinking about installing a hyd thumb on the front (back)hoe. The thumb would be controlled by the old PT quick attach circuit and the hoe bucket would work off the trigger switch hoist control.

It was a pricy grapple, but when I see them for sale they seem to hold their value. It works nice to be able to spin the load for whatever reason - getting around trees or loading to keep in certain direction. Also when picking stuff up, you can approach from any angle.
I ended up buying it with the Toro-Dingo mounting plate (and using an adapter). I believe if I have to sell it, there would be a much bigger market.
I run my engine at lower speeds, seldom over 1/2 throttle unless I am stuck or digging into a bank and need very high wheel torque.
The 4 cyl is much smoother then the 2 cly 1430, but it has a vibration that ends up shaking the hyd cooling fan on that big hood. I try to not keep it in that RPM area because I believe it will shorten the fan life.

Here is a pic of the joystick and the bent up lever to lower it.
