I've got a price quote on a 2410 from a dealer here in town. Based on other posts here, I can evaluate how good of a deal I have been offered. Except there is a "freight and setup" charge of $1900.

Is that normal? I speculate that if everybody were paying that kind of a fee, I would see more posts about it.

The tractor is a 4wd 2410 with FEL and a 60" MMM.

Eric,

Is that normal? I have not seen a freight and set up charge separated from the quote for the tractor. Certainly it is a cost of doing business for the dealer.

I would add the "freight and set up" cost to the dealer quote and compare that to the deals you have seen here and other places. If they don't compare favorably go to somewhere else. If there is no other dealers near you check with Carver, at least his freight cost is understandable. Good luck whatever you do.

Just to be clear, here is what the whole quote looks like:

14,480 list for the tractor itself
3,298 list for the FEL
2,340 list for the MMM
1,900 freight and setup

Then they total this up and add our local sales tax for a total of list price of 23,450, including freight and tax. (Yes, it looks like they did the tax correctly.)

Then they show 20,750 as their price, after applying discounts for "package deal" and "end of season". That is the total amount they propose that I would pay. I realize that sales tax must be paid, but their bottom line price is more than the sum of the list prices.

Eric,
I would tell this dealer to get real! Carver had a B2710 listed with FEL and 72" MMM for $17350.00 a few months ago when I was shopping. Shipping would have been $700.00 and no sales tax! I ended up getting a great deal on a used one with Steve Carver's help, so I did not get a new one from him. If I was buying new, thats the way I would go.

Eric,

I agree with Von. I never shopped for the 2410, but did buy a Kubota 60" midmount for $2100. Fishman posted a price for the 2410 with FEL for $14,137.

I have an opinion of that price, but the only thing I can say for sure is that I'd be talking to another dealer.

Dealers to choose..

I agree....shop around. Another dealer here is Matt @ snell@gisco.net. I have a question for everyone. Who else in the forum is a Dealer???? Anyone?

Eric,

My dealer did include a line item for 'Freight, Assembly, & Delivery', though the amount you mention is about 3 times higher. I was put off by it at first, but then I decided to just compare bottom line, out-the-door prices between different dealerships. Turns out the quote was exactly in line with the others. It's not a very smart technique - kind of like car dealers with their "$2000 push, pull, or tow" offers. In the end I decided to just focus on the bottom line and ignore that foolishness.

I wish you had your profile filled out so I knew where you are from. It caught my eye that they look to be pricing the tractor with folding ROPS (that is the standard way they come through at my dealer too . . .). Send me a note off-line if you want to hear any details of what I bought - my B2410 package was similar to yours, though I paid less AND had a LandPride tiller in the package.

I just bought a 2001 2710 with R4's, FEL, foldable ROPS and block heater and it was delivered to me (300 miles one way) total price was 15,700.00. I would definately shop around.

First off - the price is outrageously high. Buy elsewhere or bring a competing quote to get him lower.

Second, when I was shopping last Feb., my local dealer explained that he had a spring shipment already ordered. If were willing to wait for that order to come in, there would be no freight, since Kubota picked it up as part of the spring dealer stocking process. However, if I wanted something that wasn't on the truck, wanted it sooner, or waited until after he sold all of the initial inventory, he would have to add freight to my price. This would be FOB Atlanta, where the eastern warehouse is. I think he said it would be around $700-900, but I can't rememeber exactly. Definitely not over $900. I live in upstate NY, so that would be around 1000 miles. I didn't end up buying from him. The dealer I bought from delivered 350 miles for free (another neighbor wanted one and we got free delivery for buying 2 at once). He also charged less than anyone else quoted - check http://www.keysrecreational.com Ask for Frank.
