I ended up replacing the VR and it didn't change the readings. One thing that I did was tighten the alternator belt really tight. That seemed to help alot. It's possible that a new belt might even give me better results. As is, the light is still flashing on the dash at very low RPM's (less the 1k). If revved up, the light goes out. I don't use the tractor that much, and honestly, it just one of those things that I've learned to ignore and live with.
I would get a buddy and really tighten up the belt and see if that helps. Sorry this wasn't much help.
Good luck.

You've blown one of the diodes only get half the amps that is why the gen lite comes on. Rebuild alt or buy a rebuilt

Did you get a mechanical or solid state VR? Do you remember the brand if it was mechanical?
