192 c.i.d. engine vs. 201 engine

I am replacing the engine in my Ford 4630 with a rebuilt long block engine. I ordered a 192 engine because the spec page I was looking at called for it.

Now I learn that the 4630 also used the 201 engine.

The rebuilt 192 engine is 90% installed now and we cannot determine whether the old engine is a 192 or a 201. Everything has bolted up to the new engine and it appears to fit.

Anybody know how to identify a 201 engine? Anybody know the difference in hp between the two engines?

If the old engine is a 201, is the injector pump going to work properly on the 192 engine?

IF DISPLACEMENT IS TH ONLY DIFERENCE about 5% less on the 192 versus the 201.Ii believe the 201 was rated at 62 hp at the flywheel.

Your tractor has a data plate somewhere where it gives a model number, serial number etc. That plate should have some numbers on it that specify, in code, what engine is on it. i have a Ford 4610 and the data plate is on the hood above the battery.

From my understanding the main difference is in the length of the stroke. 192 is 4.20 in and 201 is 4.40 in.

I have 192 ci and from what I've found the main difference is in the availability of rebuild parts. 201 CI is easier to get the parts.

they both are easy to get parts for but i believe the only differences in the two is the 192 was the motor for the 3910/4100 tractors which is 4.2 bore

Thanks for the replies. The new 192 is installed and running, just needs some minor adjustments before putting it to work. Still don't know if it's a 192 or 201 that we took out of it.

From TractorData.com Ford 4000 tractor engine information the 192 ci has 8.0:1 compression and the 201 ci has 16.5:1 compression.

It appears one is a diesel and one is a gasser.

Both were made in either fuel type, but not used in a 4000.

The way I read it the 192 has a turbo, and the 201 is naturally aspirated.

If it older than 1995, no turbo and a 201. 1995 or newer, its a 192 with a turbo.

Ford introduced the newer 4000 tractor in 1965 with two engines. The gas was a 192 ci engine and the diesel the was a 201 ci engine. I'm not sure what the Propane model was, but I think it was a 201 also. They kept both engines going until sometime in 1968 and after that the 192 was discontinued and all 4000 series tractor came with 201.
So if you find the date of manufacture (FORD CODES and SERIAL NUMBERS) you should be able to know if the engine was a 192 ci or 201ci. There are lot of complete rebuild kits for the 201, but not so much for the 192.

The 192 was not discontinued in 1968, it simply was not used in 4000's. Big difference.

The subject tractor is a 4630, not a 4000.
