Ford 1910 purchased with 1500 hrs and FEL
"SSS" model which appears to be their designation for hydrostatic? 4WD, 7308 loader, and NH backhoe (not sure model ran off tractor hydraulics w/ the mounts/frame all the way to the front), 536 hrs, doesn't look abused at all. Supposedly a 2000 model year? Asking 16,900 - opinions????

Sounds like a decent price.

I paid 9500 for a 4wd gear one a few years ago.. It was a couple years used, and in great condition..it had 7xx hours on it. Add 1k for the hydro, and 5k for the loader and the backhoe ( used ) and sounds like you are there... and I considered mine a good 'deal'.. price wise.

SSS is Synchro Shuttle Shift. A 12X12 gear drive transmission with live PTO. Not hydrostatic; not available in the 1920. As described, that would be an $18K tractor on our lot......but not for long. Get it checked out and buy it if you need it and it is as good as you think.

Just sold my 1920 tractor only, three weeks ago for $12,400.00 1996 model 450 hrs. Your deal on the whole package sounds good to me.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I still don't understand the synchro shuttle shift. It sure isn't like the shuttle shift on my 1910. With this one you pick a range on the right side of the steering wheel (1-4), set your rpms, and then there is a lever on the left side for forward and reverse. Not gears, a lever you move forward to go forward, backward for reverse. Thats why I thought it was hydro.
Thought it would save alot of abuse on my left leg spending all day on the tractor. Anyone have experience with the SSS - like it?

On my 1920 the term SSS (synchronized shuttle shift) referred to the forward & reverse lever. You could shift into the opposite direction from which you were going by clutching and moving the forward & reverse lever without coming to a complete stop first. Just don't let out on clutch untill you are fully stopped. Hope this helps.

I have the SSS on my 1920 and like it just fine. It's still a gear transmission, no relation to a hydrostatic, so you'll still be clutching for gear and direction changes. If you want to avoid having to clutch frequently, this may not be the ticket for you. Overall, sounds like a very good price on a solid tractor.

I have the same tractor, 2000 Nh 1920 w/7308 loader(68" bucket) and 758C backhoe(16' hd bucket). It has turf tires and had 72 hours on it in Jan 2002 when I bought it for $17,000. Bill C

Sounds like a great deal Bill.
I think I get it. Instead of having four gears on the "shifter" (1-3 and R) you get 2 - forward and reverse? I guess your selecting different ranges (1-4) alot more? At least I know it isn't a hydro.
Still seems like a nice package, now if I could just find the $$$!

the SSS trans has a lever by your left leg that selects low-med-high ranges. The lever on the left side of the steering wheeel is forward and reverse. The lever on the right side is your gear selection for the transmission. The idea behind the "shuttle" (foward-reverse) is that you don't have to come to a stop before shifting from forward to reverse. This is especially useful when doing loader work. You have 12 speeds in both forward and reverse. Hope this clears this up, Bill C
