My 1946 Ford 9n 3 pt hitch goes up but won't come down. I have a snowblower attached. It will go down after it sits a few hours.

Not sure on a 46 but newer models have a rate of descent knob usually below the front of the seat. If the knob gets closed it won't go down.

You might have a sticking valve in the the valve body, I had this problem on my 600 ford, took the valve out and polished it good to go, reason tractor was sitting for long time and some moisture got in somehow.
