Ok a little history about it. i bought it in march of 2010 for $800

It needed a rad and had a cracked block i welded the block and hasn't leaked since.

heres all what i put on it since i owned it.
New Rad.
New Rear Tire and tube
New front tire and tube
New Pto Shaft the coversion 1/ 3/8
Rebuilt Starter
New 6 volt battery.
New Coil
New Plugs
New Wires
New Rotor
New Points
New Condenser

I hate to get rid of it but have no room for it and i have lost time to work to be able to do alot of work on it.

Now today i cleaned the fuel screen in the fuel elbow where it goes in the carb cause it wasnt running right. and boy was it clogged.
Now after i put it back in it seems to run fine for a while and the bogs a little and after i shut it off the fuel leaks outa the carb where the air intake is.

Im thinking rebuild Carb? But as it sits right now whats it worth im thinkin 1500 But i will not go lower than 1300 as thats what i have in it now.

But i want to sell it im tired of messing with it and really no need for it anymore i just bought a 1988 3910 with 600 original hours on it.
Straight tin Real nice and clean.
Only bad is it got turf tires on the back and car tires on the front but i plan on changing that.

I found it on the internet out in Cleavland. Gotta go get it on tue. What was a good price for that? i wanna see if i got a good deal.
After a few people say ill post what i paid.

Price varys by location and since you didnt fill out your profile, it will be hard to give you an accurate figure.

In my area they can range anywhere from 800-3800 for 8n's depending on condition and options. 3800 being totally restored with some of the more desirable features like the later side mount distributor and sherman trans.

Since yours is rough, and doesn't have the sherman, and is an earlier 8n, around here 1300 would be a fair guess if it weren't for the cracked block. Without knowing what you do for a living, when you say "you" welded it, would tend to scare me away. Not just every backyard DIY'er can weld a cast block.

In general, I always see 8N's on c-list and know what the asking price is, but since I am not going around and buying all of them, I don't know what the actual "selling" price is. Good Luck

Still may sway some buyers though, just knowing that it WAS cracked and then repaired.

But given the condition that it is in, it will probabally come down to how well it starts and runs. If it runs good, you should be able to get the $1300 back, but probabally not much more. If it runs rough, and/or ahs issues starting/driving/trans issues, it just goes down from there.

8 and 9N values have been slipping in my area. Many for 1000, to 1200 depending on condition, options, and tires. Good parade tractor but nothing for loader or field work requiring some hp. ACs seem to be readily available in the 2k price range ( D-15-17 ) with 3 point and power steering. Plus they are 45 plus hp.
Good luck on your sale. The welded block is going to be a hard sell point. Take a grand and run. Sounds like you have a good replacement.

In SE MI 8n's value slipped real bad, some I saw I would like to have, but I already have one. The CUT tractors with FEL and hydro are king here now. We were talking at work and you can get a 8n cheaper around here than a MTD lawnmower.

I think you own an unfortunate neat yard ornament.

I was just commenting in another forum ont he dismal tractor prices right now.

in my area, the southeast.. you can get god N with non welded blocks all day, as many as you want int he 1200-1500$ range.. and step up to the naa models for 1800$ jump to 2000-2500 and you get hundred series. the 3 cyl jobs are at an all time low.. I must have looked at a dozen on crags list today alone all within 2-3 hours drive of me for right around 3000$ that's the cheapest I've seen a 3cyl.. um.. EVER.

your welded block is the deal killer. doesn't matter if you have xray vision and can leap tall buildings.. help old people across the street and can melt cast iron with your eyes, underwater at nuclear plants without glowing... someone is going to buy one with a non welded block, before one with a welded block.. and they won't have to pay much more.. maybee less the way the economy is.

if you are inthe northeast.. or the far west. or in a tractor poor market.. you might just squeak your minimum asking number out with some arm twisting and maybee a threat of violence.

economy is bad... an n that had a quad bypass just ain't at the top of the money tree..

look at it like this. I bought a rough looking but good running ford 951 for the same money you are asking. blocks tight.. no leaks, has nearly 2x the hp of that 8n.. is 11 ys newer, and has a better tranny, faster and stronger hyds, and can have a remote added by twisting 4 bolts.. by all accounts.. it's alomst (2) 8n in capability.. yet... it's value was deep sixed due to a 8' bead across the side of the engine behind the carb...

I know it's not wat you wanted to hear.

good luck. ( not many of us buy and sell old tractors for the money... just too hard to come out unless you pretty much get them for free, and don't have to put parts into them... in many cases.. if you add your personal labor up.. you can't possibly sell them for what you have in them except in extreme circumstances... )

Thanks I picked it up at autcion on the internet, It was city owned since new.
They said all they used it for was with a flail mower. And the best about it is its only got 600 hrs on her.

nothing major wrong with it. I took the front bumper off it. I gotta straighten it up some it was bent diging into the fibeglass piece over the air cleaner.
and the top of the hood is bent a little this winter it will come in the garage and get fixed

Other than that just needs a battery and a good cleaning. I picked her up for 6,000 and only had to drive 4 hours round trip to get it.

Im thinking of a canopy top for it and recommendations?
