1951 john deere a

hi guys i have a 1951 john deere a that last year pulled my 12 ft kba disk no problem in 3 gear now if i try that it stalls tractor out so i tryed 2 gear it pulls it but i get smok cumming from clutch housing not sure whats going on any help thanks art

Sounds like you may need to adjust the power adjusting screw on the carb. not the idle screw the other one. turn it out 1/4 turn and see if it helps. Smoke from the clutch says it's slipping. Pull the cover and adjust it.

Is this the same disk that you had a problem pulling with your Kubota last year about this same time?

yes been it is the kabouta problem was a dirty injector they fixed tah and it ran great my john der a puleed it fine in 3 gear about 2 weeks ago tried it yester day and motor lugs down just trying to start pulling disk in 3 it pulls it in 2 but not f good seems to not have any power it runs unloade fine not sure whats going ion

You can start by checking compression.. maybe time for an engine overhaul.. assume the brake lock didn't get flipped and one brake is dragging..

a bit more history if you want analysis just based on what has been told.. IMO

i did run out of gas befor the issue came up had some trouble getting it to start after i put gas in had to take out the bowl drain plug to get gas flowing but then it started really goood but still had the power issue

Did you clean the glass sediment bowl? It sounds like you got the junk in the bottom of the tank in the fuel system. Sediment bowl may be full of water.
