1952 Cummins Diesel Indycar

When Cummins entered its #28 Special race car in the 1952 Indianapolis 500 Race, the company wasn't looking to get into the racing business. It was trying to prove a point about diesel engines. The JT-600 engine was, at the time, an in-production truck engine modified somewhat for the race, but not drastically. The race proved the innovative PT fuel system and the use of turbochargers, and put Cummins out ahead of the competition in the truck engine business for some years to come. After being relegated to parades and then to a display case at company headquarters in Columbus, Ind. for many years, the car is up and running again. It's now lovingly cared for and driven by the fellow instrumental in saving it from the display case, retired Cummins engineer, Bruce Watson.

Cummins is REAL HEAVY into the "fishing" side of it now..{Marine}
Every year when the Gov. Cup Bill Fish Series rolls around I get the pleasure of working on their boat..
They have the inj. pumps turned WAY UP.. simply because its all about, who can get to the fishing grounds the fastest..
They have no interest in winning anything.. they're just out there to blow black smoke & lead the pack of 50-100 boats..
So once THAT happens , the calls start coming in to RE-POWER the fleet of fishing boats..{w/Cummins Engines} after the series wraps-up..
THAT has been going on for the last 15 years..
Oh, & right after the fishing tourney is over.. the pumps come BACK OFF & reset to spec..
THEN the calls start pouring in for low power complaints from the customers that Cummins had "fleeced"..
