I split my Model 40 this afternoon to install a new clutch and pressure plate. I haven't put a clutch in an old tractor but the parts look similar to car and truck units from the 50's and 60's I have installed. The flywheel is very thick but doesn't seem too different. Is there anything I need to know so I get this right the first time? I have a new pilot bearing and throwout bearing. I bought an alignment shaft also.

Thanks,

JC

I can't think of anything much different between older auto & tractor clutch assemblies. Just ""finese the 2 sections of tractor back together"" rotating engaged pto shaft to help align splines of clutch hub & trans input shaft. Using 2 correct diameter bolts with heads removed for guides will help aligh both 1/2's. Don't attempt to draw halves together with the cluitch housing retaining bolts
