I'm experiencing an oil leak and having difficulty identifying where it's coming from. Part of that problem is the engine is very dirty right now and I'm getting ready to clean it up, but would like to know where the leak is coming from before I start taking it apart. The oil is dripping on the floor just below the generator. I can see it pooling in the cavity below the pulley attached to the crankshaft, but don't see it leaking from anywhere in particular. it's also collecting on the ledge that the oil pan bolts up to. Again, this is only on the left side of the engine (facing toward the front). Are there any routine trouble spots that I should be looking for? Bob

Could be the front seal as it is running it slinging it around

very likey front seal.

medium work.. you'll want the front end off.. might as well address the king pin then and spindles, hubs and axle bearings too. front cover.. gaskets.. pan gasket.. crank seal in cover.. etc.. check governor..e tc..
