1956 John Deere 50.

I am building a pulling tractor out of this 50 and I need to know how much I can safely shave off the head to up the compression. I will be running stock replacement aluminum pistons. Thanks for any help.

You might try contacting a mechanic by the name of John at Rosencrantz John Deere in Exeter, NH (603)772-4414. He's rebuilt hundreds of the two cylinder models.

By the way...I also have '56 John Deere 50.
