Hi everybody i need some help I rebuilt the carburetor on this tractor it still leak gas i adjusted the float several time. You can blow through the gas line and push the float up and the air stops going through so im not sure why it still leaks. It only leaks after it sets 7 or 8 hours all the part were new thanks for the help

Would help a little if you posted the carb number or at least the actual machine it came on..

In any case.. did you put in a new viton needle and use the old seat.. if a viton needle, did you seat it well into the seat?

repalce the phenolic washer under the seat.

did you test the flaot for a pinhole... ( submerge float in a glass of hot water and look for a stream of bubbles from the pinhole. ).

In any case.. if it will hold that long.. it will be good enough to run... remember.. you should be turning the fuel off under the tank when you put it up anyway.. .. are you saying the under tank valve leaks as well?

post back.

Workmaster would specify an X01 series with a 134 cu in gas engine and if original, a Marvel Schebler carb.

My bad.. I was thinking powermaster for some reason.. and the powermaster designation went into effect before the 01 series, using the decal with the gear on the 57 models.. and since plenty of ms carbs fit those 00/01 models.. that's why I asked if he had a specific carb number.

Plus there are zenith replacements for these carbs.. that's why I asked for a carb model, so i could post up an exploded diagram for him.

Yes i replace the needel and the seat and the float it all came in the kit but the carb will not leak until it sets 8 or 10 hours i did blow through the bowel and lifted the float and the air would stop.I adjusted the float several times.Soundguy do you have anymore ideas on this problem. This is a 1959 workmaster ford tractor

Hey knight, how about a picture of the old girl? Thanks TB

I know this is a remote possibility, but what about the gas cap? Are you leaving the tractor out in the sun during the 8-10 hours it takes to get it to leak? Is it possible your cap is not vented and the tank is becoming pressurized in the heat enough to force the float needle off the seat?

Okay, I told you that it was a remote chance, so don't laugh too hard at me.:D I just cannot think why it would take that long to leak. If it does, it couldn't be leaking that much. Turning off the petcock under the tank has been the solution for many, many Ford tractors. I always turned my petcock off every time I shut the tractor down for the day and I don't think my carburetor ever leaked. I did start it a few times with the petcock off and have it die a few seconds later from fuel starvation.

Good theory.

I guess another could be a flaot with a pinhole that fills, becomes heavy.. then lets gas thru.. tank empties, gas in flaot evaps.. and then you take it apart to diagnose and nada..

remote as well..
