I was out skidding logs and my gear driven hydraulic pump (rock shaft pump) began leaking. It was the small tube (high pressure) side. I couldn't tighten the nut so I took it apart. It's a crush type fitting. I ordered part c7nnh856c. The part came in and what I read on this forum, was that you have to put it together following the directions. Well my part didnt come with directions. My shop manual does have anything on the fitting either. The rubber black seal has a rounded edge and a square edge so that is directional. The white plastic ring was not on my tractor when I took it part so I'm not sure where that goes.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the white plastic is removed from the pump, It sometimes stays in. You have to pick it out. Leave the fitting together the way it was in the bag. If it is apart go look at another.
Make sure the tube is not buggered up. If it is you may have to get another tube. Push the fitting onto the line and start the nut into the pump. Once it is started make sure you push the tube all of the way into the pump before you tighten the nut. There is a clamp on top of the trans. that helps the tube stay in place. By the way Ford didn't start using that fitting until 10/69. Before that the tubes were connected to each other with a flange.
