I haven't been on here in a while, so here it goes. I am looking at a 1965ishh jd 400 industrial with a loader and backhoe. The guy says it runs fine, but won't go into gear. It sounds to me like he might have some broken shifting forks, but I'm not sure. Can someone tell me what they think it might be? If I would have to go into the transmisssion to fix it, do I have to split the whole tractor in half, or does it have a full frame, where I can just pull the rear end, not cut it all in half? Can anyone help me out please?

Not going gear could be disconnect clutch, hyd reverser, gear trans or spider gear(differential) problems.

Thanks for the advice, but the machine was sold. I was going to buy it, but not now! It went for 800 and it turns out, NOTHING WAS EVEN WRONG WITH IT! The guy said somebody came, got it moving, and took it home right there. SO MAD I MISSED OUT ON SUCH A STEAL!!!
