I just inherited what I believe is a 1966 Cub Cadet. My great grand fathers'. It starts and runs fine. Looks all original. I was wondering if I were to sell it what would be a good asking price? Thanks for your input, Brian.
It should be collectible.
What model and condition?
Please don't misunderstand I am no authority on this.
IMHO in good shape it should be worth a pretty penny though.
Don't get shortchanged.
Others with more knowledge will surely chime in.
Pictures?
With a K161 7 HP Kohler, it will be a model CCO, or Cub Cadet Original- the grand daddy that got it all started for Cub. Depending on condition, these will fetch anywhere from $200 for a shabby one to $1000 or more for one in excellent condition with working mower deck. They are not rare, but were very well built so many stood the test of time. You would likely have no problem at all selling it if that is your desire
Those old units were tanks. Ours had a 36" two-blade deck in which the blades could collide but were timed with a toothed (Gilmer) belt to prevent it from happening. Three speed transmission with dry clutch. Metal seat, no cushion.
Actually, if it is a 1966 model, it would be a model 71. The big difference between the model 71 and the original, is the frame. The original's frame bolted straight to the rear end where as the 71's frame ran the entire length of the tractor.
