1967 Case 580CK Backhoe / Loader
I have a 1967 Case 580CK Backhoe / Loader. Most of the time when operating the loader or just moving around... the backhoe creeps down and I constantly need to raise the boom arm so the bucket doesn't hit the ground. Can be really aggrivating. I've read that this machine had traveling chains on and for the backhoe to keep the boom in the up position Can anyone advise me as to where and how these chains attached and what the ends of the chains looked like.
Thanks,
Frank

Frank, I have a 580B Construction King, few years newer - my hoe has a LATCH that's part of the main casting (the part the boom swivels/pivots on) - I might be able to help if you can post a few pics - front and side views showing the entire hoe, and a side view of just the main casting, plus a close-up of the hoe's name tag if it's still there - my 580B hoe is a model 35, but from looking around it appears the CK's hoe has a SINGLE cylinder for boom lift and a smaller casting WITHOUT the holes (or room) for a mechanical latch -

Still, a few pics might keep your thread going til somebody who has the same model decides to chip in - nuthin' to lose, right?? ...Steve

Actually I found online how the chains were attached. One on each stabilizer leg which attach to the backside of the boom. Works as it should to keep the boom up. But thanks for your response!!!!
