Buying Advice 1967 M/F 135 Diesel

Why buy a new pump? I can repair most for under 250.

The only concern I would have with that tractor is if the engine has been worked on and the credentials of the person doing the work. If the engine has not been wrenched (talking anything serious here), then it would be a good buy where I live. Always be skeptical of an overhaul that is then sold right afterwards, be it gas or diesel. I would rather work on a diesel than a gas, they seem more basic to me. Parts for a Perkins 3 cly are very available.

Gale,
I am skeptical of diesel for "my" use which would be maybe 50 hours a year.
Will look for a gas engine.
Have a customer that is to show me his IH 350 in the next week or so.
Thanks

Not sure if you are still reading this post or not, but my dad has a 67 model 135 with the Perkins diesel, drinks about a third the fuel of the same tractor with a gas engine. engine time per year runs any where from 30 to 60 hours a years depending on what he is doing that particular year. in all these years he has never had nothing serious go wrong. he has had to replace seals and belts over the years. But the diesel just keeps on running. Biggest thing is to keep up the maintenance on it and don't let it sit up for long periods (3 months or more)of time. I ask him what he thought the tractor was worth these days, he said he has seen them go for $3500 to $4000, in good shape. he has owned both gas and diesels in his life time, he says if he had to do it all over again he would have never bought a gas tractor, the torque the diesel puts out is far better than a gas any day.

He is a smart man. Spot on. They can go for a little more than that actually (diesel).
