Case 580 CK
Hi,

I have a 69 Case 580 CK currently it has a Model 32 backhoe on it. What I found out is the operator manual say it suppose to have a Model 33 backhoe on it. What I am finding is that when I rotate the seat I cannot sit at the backhoe control comfortably. The swing pedals are up to high it's easier to reach them with my hands then my feet. I'm thinking it's because of the backhoe model 32 instead of a 33. I have found a model 34 local and I'm wondering if it will fit on my tractor. I haven't been able to find anything by googling. Does anybody have any idea?

If the seat rotates, does it not have a lever/knob on the post you take your toe, and press down on, and raised the seat to a level suitable to operate the hoe..?? It should be spring loaded, that when you press down on that lever, it will raise somewhat, and you may have to pull up on the seat itself to get the max height. All models from that era that I'm familiar with are that way. Before that, they had a separate seat mounted on the hoe tower you flipped up out of the way.

From what I have been able to gather from looking at the operators manual there were two types of seat mounts. On 580's with a PTO (which is what I have) there was no spring in the mount. The seat spun around the post and there is a pin that is pulled out to let it spin. The way the post is cut when the seat spins it will make the seat go up about 3 or 4 inches and the pin will engage in a different hole. On 580's without a PTO the seat post is taller and there is a spring in it. I'm thinking the combination of the model 32 backhoe attachment and the PTO is way I don't have enough height although it's just an assumption right now. I did see the seat mount that goes on the backhoe tower. The problem with that is I have an enclosure on my tractor so it won't work that if I could find one. My wife is going to make me a cushion with a 4" rise to see if it helps. The backhoe appears to be working well and since the machine is new to me and I'm new to backhoes I'm leery about buying a different model backhoe just for a few inches of leg room. It's not like I'm going to be using this for business purposes. It's just for around the property. I have a few sink holes to fix and leveling the yard.
