I have recently obtained a '70 MF 135 Diesel form a neighbor. He always took care of it but was not the orginal owner. It is in good shape overall, however, it is some what hard to steer. It does have power steering, but Im not sure where to start in the troubleshooting process to detect the problem. I have added fluid to the PS pump and it seems to push fluid up to the steering column. I don know at what pressure, or what the pressure should be off the PS pump. I though about starting there as it is the most accessible component in the system. I have purchased a pump seal kit, but looking for more information concerning the steering system, and how it all works with in the steering colomn. Any help or suggestions welcome. Thanks Don

G'day and :welcome: take the back cover off the pwr steer pump there should be a filter in there, often get overlooked in general servicing might be a good place to start.

135s have "power assisted steering" not true power steering. True power steering has a sizeable hydraulic ram (cylinder) built into the front axle steering assembly. The 135 has a very small hydraulic gizmo built into the steering column to provide some steering assistance. So anything you do to the PS pump or the steering unit is probably not going to help all that much. My 1964 MF135 diesel is a real bear to steer even after its power steering system has been serviced several times.

Good luck.
