1970's wladen 5000 articulator lift problem

Hello all,

I am having a problem with my lil walden 5000 articulator. Lately the boom lift is going real slow unless I rev the engine up. This was never like this. I replaced all the seals and o-rings in the control valve stack as well as the poppet springs. Also I replaced the hyd fluid filter. All other functions seem ok. not seeing any leaks in the hoses or pistons (except the right lift piston has a very small leak)

I hate to keep throwing money at the problem without getting some idea of what the real issue is. Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If you know what pressure the relief valve is set, you should be able to tell if the cyl are good.

Otherwise, when you fully extend the cyl, you should see the relief pressure or something close, and if not, you might have to replace the piston seals in the cyl.

It could be the valve spools leaking, but I doubt it.

Reving the engine only makes the pump, pump more, and that controls speed of operation, by producing more GPM.

It is the pressure, that the hyd components develops that produce the force/power.

yea we pulled the hyd filter and found a lot of plastic debris in it so we took the pistons apart and lo and behold, the seals were destroyed. We put new seals in and the problem was solved. I guess 30-40 years is all the life you can expect from those...lol.
