1971 John Deere 300 with a Kohler 16hp head/gasket

Hi I'm looking for the head and gasket for a Kohler k341 45-522-40 off a 1971 john Deere 300 rider. I had a bolt shear off and ended blowing the gasket and cracking the head all the way through. The cheepest I can find both is $204 through John Deere. Any leads would be greatly welcomed

Are there any other numbers after the K341?? Everything I find using the 45-522-40 shows that as a part number for a 16 hp short block.

Went to John Deere and found the actual part numbers for what you are looking for. The cylinder head part number is M82238. The head gasket number is M70497. You can do a search using these numbers on any search engine and get a LOT of hits. Narrow it down by putting Kohler in front, then the part number. Narrow it further by putting it in quotation marks, such as "Kohler M82238".

Did get a hit for a used one + plus a new head gasket on ebay, for $119.99 w/free shipping. Kohler K341 16HP Cylinder Head Gasket Cub Cadet 169 1650 Deere 316 300 216 | eBay

Guess it's up to you if you want to take a chance on a used one, although it doesn't look too bad.

To Dj54 I hadn't seen that. When I looked on e-bay all there was is a kit for $208. If its still there Friday I will more than likely get it unless I can find a better deal so thank you

You may have another way to search for a head, but using the numbers off the shroud, if they are still on the tag. I went to Kohler, and they have the K341's specifically for John Deere's, but have a different series number after the K341 on several of them. So if it's still there, you should find the K341 listed for the model number, but something like 71164 ( which is one taken directly from the Kohler page) for the series number. So when searching, type it as K341-71164, and see what kinds of hits you get.

Seems I have better luck using Google to search for tractor/engine parts, but to each their own.
