Hey folks. I have been trying to remove the power steering pump which has a leak, probably in the main seal. Problem is, I can't get the darn thing off! Does anyone have insight as to how this is done? It is a kidney shaped pump. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just looked at agcopartsbooks.com and saw a pump that I believe you described for an orchard tractor and it looks like it is held on by three bolts. Probably on a Perkins gas engine??? driven by a spur gear (straight teeth) should just unbolt and pull off. gasket in between pump and block may be sticking.

Here's snippet from AGCO Parts Books
Shona13 mentioned spliting the pump. it looks as if two screws secures the pump reservoir. You have to remove the reservoir to access the two bolts that secure the pump in place. Be sure to order kit which will include a new O ring for the reservoir.

Good find on the old thread Kid. agcopartsbooks was unclear how it attaches. Snippet, I think is the wrong pump. Both threads mention a kidney shaped resevior. Check out the orchard model and see if you agree. Attachment of both pumps apears to be the same as Hutch mentioned.

In the case of either pump, round or kidney. From several sources. The reservoir cover has to be removed to access the two bolts that hold it on. Shona13's explanation is spot on.
I would also recommend replacing the filter element while one had it apart.

Wow thanks for all of the help guys. And finally, a picture of a kidney shaped pump. I'm new to this so it's taking me a while to learn some of the information. The diagram, Kid, is bang on. I have removed the bolts that seem to be holding the pump in place but it won't budge. Typically I'd use some brute force, but I don't want to cause more problems. I've read up on Shona's thread and I think I'll just have to massage the pump a bit. I have the cover off, and the 4 interior bolts but nothing. I'll keep working on it.. Thanks again

There looks to be quite a few parts that has to be removed to reveal the bolts that secure it to the block. It looks like you have to pretty much strip it to a shell to get to those bolts. Take pictures during disassembly to aid you in reassembly..
