Jeff,
I happen to have a sales brochure on the
B6000. It is a 2-cylinder diesel 12.5 hp tractor available in 2wd (B6000E) or 4wd (B6000C). Note that most other Kubotas use a "D" suffix to indicate 4wd. It had a lot of optional equipment available (front end loader, tillers, etc) but you will probably have a hard time finding any
B6000 specific items if they don't come with the tractor.
PTO Direction: Excluding "Grey Market Tractors (tractors not built to US specs but are here nonetheless)", the
B6000 is the only Kubota compact tractor that I know of that has the PTO turning in the non-standard direction. This could be critical if you plan to use 3-point hitch PTO driven equipment. If you do a search on "
B6000" someone had previously posted about a device that reverses the PTO direction allowing you to use standard equipment.
PTO Speed: Most PTO equipment for US tractors operate at 540 rpm. According to the
B6000 sales brochure, the
B6000 has a 3-speed rear PTO. At 2700 rpm you have your choice of 560, 840, or 1350 rpm. It would probably be acceptable to operate the 540 rpm equipment on the 560 speed. I'm reasonable sure that the
B6000 doesn't have a tachometer so that an exact engine speed of 2700rpm would be difficult to achieve with precision anyways.
Cooling System: I'm pretty sure that the
B6000 has the "thermo-siphon" cooling system. I've posted plenty on this before. It is a good system but has peculiarities that you need to be familiar with. Search the archives or ask me for details after you purchase the tractor.
Will it do the jobs you are asking of it? Here are my opinions...
Hauling Wood: I don't know how you intend to haul wood. Assuming that it doesn't have a front end loader, then if you are pulling a trailer then it should do fine.
Grade the driveways? Its 3-point hitch should handle a 5' scraper blade or a 4' yard box just fine. It might even handle an extra foot on each item.
Mowing? If it doesn't come with a mower, then here will be your biggest problem. The mid-mowers are generally pretty good on these, if it has one (parts are available, but expensive). If it comes with a rear 3-point hitch mower (either finish or rotary cut) then that mower should do fine as long as it is in good shape. However, if it doesn't have a mower, or if you have to replace it, then you will eventually run into problems because of the PTO direction.
Hope this helps,
Kelvin
