1974 JD 310 A no hydraulics

Hello I am new here and have a query I have a 74' 310A and the hydraulics don't work and neither will it move. It all started after driving on the property, I shifted it into a higher gear there was nothing in the bucket and I was on flat ground there was a bit of a clunk in the transmission after shifting when i stopped it after driving 1/4 mi it got to where the hydraulics were fading it wouldn't even pick up the boom, and the bucket would only lift 2ft off the ground if I shut it off and started it back up the hydraulics were very weak but still worked and then it got to where even turning off the tractor and starting it back up didn't do much at all and the steering finally wouldn't even work. Now I assume this is a charge pump based on what I have read, suction screen is clear as a bell and good filters newer main hyd pump. Have not checked the relief valves yet and was wondering what your advice would be concerning what else I can easily test to see why this machine doesn't work or am I correct in thinking this charge pump is the issue. Also can I put an inline 12V pump between the main hyd pump and transmission to do the charge pump job or is that faulty thinking. Thank you very Much Daniel

It's possible that the disconnect clutch hub rivets sheared which will stop power to charge pump. Could you remove trans top cover for an inspection? I've never witnessed a 12 V hyd pump inserted in lieu of charge pump.

Wouldn't an easy way to check the transmission oil pump be to remove the line that supplies the front pump and route it to a container and check for flow?
I would check the oil filter bypass valve, might be stuck open.
Check the main pump drive.
Check stroke control of main pump.

If clutch hub is sheared trans pump won't be pumping.

Hello again I removed the transmission cover beneath the operators seat and fired up the machine the clutch shaft doesn't turn nothing turns and there is a funny squeeking noise coming from the clutch housing that is intermittant which wasnt there before. when the machine was off i engaged the hi low side of the transmission and can turn the gears by hand it is a little difficult but can be done. so TX Jim based on this you are saying the clutch hub is sheared ?

Yes either clutch or input shaft splines are stripped which either one will require a tractor split to repair.

Okay good thank you very much.So for this do I need to pull the motor and trans, to get at the clutch assembly and check the other hard parts, Or can I pull just the motor ?

Splitting a tractor means pulling off the transmission. As the transmission is also the rear frame, you literally have to split the tractor in half.

I agree with Fallon that you need to split tractor between engine & clutch housing.
