My backhoe stopped going forward toward the end of my task of moving item 4 from the driveway to under the deck. I pushed it to its parking spot and set to researching the possible cause. The first discussions that caught my eye was that the trans stopped functioning while it was hot SO I returned this weekend to move it better into place and cold as a bone (except for the engine oil heater) it started right up but only went in reverse. There are some discussion strings that center around the trans oil (foaming or not enough) as well as a particularly bent and slightly expensive pipe and O rings on the top of the trans. Anyone have any insight on this? I have th full manuals and am searching this out some, but in the NE of the USA I am running out of outside "shop" time fast due to low temps... HELP! I just got this bad boy and have a lot of work ahead of it...

Don't have the manuals to review, but I would suspect a hydraulic leak in the transmission. Look in your manuals for where to test trans pressure and its values

I have the full manuals from 1975... I have read a little about possible seal leakage causing similar issues as well. Thank you.
