1975 Massey Fergusson 135

I just bought a massey Ferguson 135 (1975 model). It runs great for the first 45 minutes, then it started spitting and sputtering. I can let it cool for an hour, and work it for another 45 minutes.
Does anybody know my problem??

Petrol or diesel?
If petrol, I can't help.
If diesel then you have a fuel problem. disconnect the tank to filter line at the no1 filter (2filters) and check the flow. If the flow is a steady full pipe the you probably have clogged filters.Change both.
If the fuel dribbles out ,then there is a blockage at the fuel cock. On the end of the fuel cock is a small filter, this can block if the tank is dirty.NB drain as much of the fuel BEFORE you pull the fuel cock.
IF changing the filters be sure to remove the old Oring seal first or the filter won't seat and leak. I recommend you fill the filters with diesel then fit as this model of tractor is manuel priming and you save yourself a lot of hassle. Once the filters are fitted go to the injector pump and "crack" the bleeders and pump(hand or on the key).

To get my 1964 MF135 diesel running OK I had to clean the entire fuel from the tank to the high pressure injector pump. That included removing the fuel tank and cleaning and sealing the insides.

Your problem seems like some version of vapor lock. Clean the fuel lines and make sure they are not in contact with something the heats up--like the exhaust manifold or exhaust system pipes.

My 135 is a gas engine. The vapor lock sounds like a good possibility, will check it out. Thanks for the info, .

if it has a fuel pump, vapor lock is possible.
