Hi everyone, well the 3 pt not working is probably my fault:mad:. Fired up the tractor and did not realize that the lever for the 3 pt was on full up holding my backhoe. By the time I recognized the noise of the pump straining it was to late and all of a sudden it stopped working and now there is nothing and the backhoe is on the grown.

Did I blow a seal some where or did a pump let go?

Install or use a pressure gage to see if the pump is capable of pressure.

If no pressure at all, check the pump shaft and see if the pump is turning, or maybe twisted off.

Is there any fluid leaks anywhere?

There are no leaks so I think I need to get a pressure gage and test the the reief valve pressure. Is the Hydraulic pump for the front bucket and the 3pt the same? The front bucket still works. I hoping its just the relief valve.

If the loader still works, then the pump is good.

I used the backhoe stabilizer feet to lift the backoe off the ground and the 3pt seems to be holding it up. So does this mean the relief valve and lift pistion seals are OK. The 3pt will not lift on it own( does nothing) . Any other thoughts as to what might be the problem before I invest it a pressure testing kit?

Refering to "1980 F1200" you mean Ford 1200?!. Ford 1200 and Shibaura SE 1640 is the same tractor,at least up to 80 %. Enclosed is a link to Fords partscatalog showing the hydraulic pump.Official New Holland Online Parts Store and Online Parts Catalog for New Holland and Ford Tractors.
My 1640 has the same pump and same lift problems at the 3point lift. When cold I measured pump pressure at 125 kg and good oil flow. Rised the front end when I got a big stone in the bucket. Then, after oil got ca.
30`C pressure dropt to under 20kg and poor oil flow. Hydraulic pump now very warm. New pump,#SBA340040040, is not available over here.

If the fluid is getting hot, above 200 degrees, you may be working at the relief pressure, and the fluid will heat up. If you think the pump pressure is good, then don't try and lift very heavy loads.

You could also add a hyd radiator and fan to help cool the fluid.

Oil temp never get over normal working temp , 70 - 80`Celcius, relief valve adjusted to proper relief opening pressure. . 5-6 years ago I hauled some 10-12 m3 of pure rock and stone for weeks in a row with this little 1640. It may have killed the little heart of a hydraulic pump. Getting a radiator/fan on this little tractor is not in question. Winter day comming, down to - 25`C you should have a pre warming unit ;-).

I don't have a temp issue and my loader is working fine. Since it only has the one pump I guess it is working fine. I think I just blow a seal some where and now it wont lift. Like I said I can use the stablizer feet to lift my backhoe up and it will stay up for quite some time. Does anyone have a diagram of the controls for the 3 pt?

OK I found the diagrams thanks to Articford. Could my problem be in the control valve?
