Hi all, just bought a 1988 new Holland compact 2120 with loader, has the Asian 4 cyl engine, the Hydraulics don't work, it has 2 hydraulic pumps on the side of the engine, what do each of these pumps operate?? it also has the shuttle shift.. my friend I purchased it from claims he can bleed air from the pump and it will work great until it sits again, I know the pump seal is not leaking the fluid into the engine,I would love to get a Hydraulic flow chart-piping diagram on this one from the pumps to the load components to the sump & return..:confused2:

the tractor has arrived, Im trying to understand the system a bit before starting any testing, first off, the tractor in a 1999, NOT a 1988.. I found a ?? may be a pump that brings fluid to the HSS & power steering pumps?? I need to know what this is.. theres a small pipe that connects it to the HSS, and a larger pipe that goes to the differential, which I believe is the pick up or screen, manual ordered, but not here yet, heres some pics of the parts..

My I&T FO-46 manual identifies your circled line as the suction line to the hydraulic system pump (from the center tank). The HSS suction line also comes in on the top fitting of the pump. The pressure line comes out of the bottom.

Manual also says the only parts serviced in the hydraulic pump are the shaft seal, internal seal rings, and back-up rings.

been thumbing through a manual I found online at U-tube somebody put up there.. found theres another pump, one on the right front that bolts to the engine through the front of the timing cover.. it is supposed to be for the HSS.. BUT, the suction pipe comes from the differential to the HSS pump, through a spin on filter.. then another pipe from the HSS pump goes to the transmission, then another goes to feed the front pump on the left side of the engine, which is supposed to be for the 3 point & loader, then it has small lines going to the orbital steering motor which I believe has a small pipe going back to the left pump at the rear of the other,it has a pipe that goes to the power steering filter above the pumps.... still gathering info.. I want to understand how the Hydraulics function on this before doing any diagnostics.. to me,it seems that all 3 pumps cannot be bad, it makes me lean toward it having a suction problem, the loader, tran's,and 3 point & power steering all went out at the same time, the differential is over full to try and eliminate a air leak inside the differential side of the screen to the pipe, I went ahead and decided to throw some parts at it,I ordered all the Orings and gasket on the suction side of all the piping connections and a new Hydraulic filter & and new filter that goes to the hydraulic valve, I plan on flushing the hydraulic system and also replace the 2 hose on the suction side that feeds the pumps,Im a retired automotive tech.. I have already determined I would never want to do this for a living.. :confused2: also, what is a decent cheaper Hydraulic fluid in place of the Ford Hydraulic fluid??

some sites are calling the component I circled in the picture a charge pump, other sites are calling it the HSS pump.. but, the suction pick-up pipe that feeds the pumps fluid, goes to this one first, but not before it goes through the spin on Hydraulic filter
