Good Morning All,

I'm hoping for some pricing help - my neighbor is parting ways with his well maintained 1988 Ford 5610, 4WD (MFWD), with a loader. I'm heading over this weekend to give it a once over, so I'm still a little sketchy on some of the details, but from my reading this more than meets my requirements (starting an orchard, saving some unmaintained fields from the forest, maintaining 95 acres...).

But, I'm having trouble with pricing - all my online price checking has the 5610 in the $8-13k USD range, and this appears to be the same price listed in older discussions (5-10 years worth of internet discussions...), have these tractors really held their value this much?

What would a reasonable price be for this unit?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

without seeing it I would say its worth 9-10k if it is actually like you said and well maintained it could be worth 15k . Those old tractors are will worth that if taken care of and will not stay on the market very long.

Thanks for the quick reply - that's what I was afraid of... :grumpy: ...but I guess we'll see how many hours, condition, etc.

My background is automotive and heavy truck, anything in particular I should be looking for with this tractor?

leaking fluids are obvious , Just check the mechanics and make sure everything operates. all older tractors will have some minor issues if it is original. This guys reputation should be known and if this is not a trader tractor it should be a good deal. Does it have a cab ?? if so your going to be on the higher side of the equation. The good thing is if you get it in the range you listed and keep it maintained or improve it , the value should stay the same or increase as the demand for these tractors climb with the new stuff being outrageously high.

Hours and condition mean alot.

60 PTO HP 4x4 loader tractors are quite valuable, especially non emissions ones like the older Fords. You didn't mention cab or not, I am assuming its a ROPS model.

Decent example of that era of tractor (any brand) could be $15k CDN or more.

You might want to confirm what transmission is in it, the 8x2 is completely bullet proof, but not as loader friendly as the 8x4 syncro etc.

So as a follow-up:

1988, 5600 hours, quick-detach loader, rebuilt ~600h ago with new clutch and pressure plate, MFWD, 8x2 transmission - $17k

Out of my price range unfortunately - back to the 2WD drawing board I think.

Thanks all for the help!

Or the Belarus drawing board if you want 4wd cheap.

5610 was priced ok for what it was, but $$$$ is $$$$.
