Looked at this tractor this evening. It has 675 hours and comes w/FEL. Asking price is $11,400 - negotiable. I am not in the used market enough to know if 675 is a lot of hours. Owner is also a Woods dealer, so if I also buy my mower and tiller from him I might be able to work a better deal. Any opinions would be appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I should also add that this tractor is 4 x 4 and has mid-PTO.

675 hours is young for a diesel, however I think the price is a little steep. For a fair market price check out this link and walk your self through it. These prices are for tractor only, figure about 1 to 1.5 k additional for FEL.
I have a 84 750 with FEL and BH I bought with 1000 hours on it for 6500.00.
Just my opinion.

Make sure that 770 has a dual stage clutch. I assume it is MFWD.
Still, a bit too high for an '89 tractor, I think.

I paid $8500 for a 670 (770's little brother) with FEL and a year old Befco RFM. That was two years ago.

That seems a bit high to me as well. I paid $5000 for a 670 gear/2wd, mid PTO, dual stage clutch with no attachments 3 months ago. It had 375 hours...notice I said "had".
I believe there are a couple 770's on ebay right now that are going to go for much less $10k.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm passing. There's just too good of deals to be had on new right now for that kind of money.

I'm brand new to this forum, and only got my first tractor , a 4 X 4 JD 770, 2 days ago. I bought it on the Central Coast of California, half way between LA and SF. Tractors are expensive here, and good used compact utility tractors are are to find. I bought a 1998 (last year for the 770, replaced by the 790) with 229 hours. The owner bought it in June 99 as a lease return from a dealer. The vinyards used them to pull wagons around during harvest, etc. It had 50 hours in June 1999. He kept it garaged since then, so it was really clean. It has the 70 FEL which was new in 1999, a 2 stage clutch, (does not have a mid-PTO), a 1999 land pride box scraper, two row disk (an old but servicable one), an old spring shank cultivator and a home made (he's a welder by trade) set of rippers.

I paid $11,250.00, which is about #,000 - $4,000.00 less than a 50hr lease return 2002 790 (basically same tractor with 5 more hp). I had looked for 18 months for a good used tractor, and this was better than any I've found.

To cut to the chase, I don't have a dealer to stand behind it, but I didn't have to pay a dealer markup plus some $815.00 + in state sales tax.

I think your dealer is high on that one, but ehy, right now, I don't relly know spit from shinola about these things.
