I am now on my third engine for my 1993 Ford 3930 45 HP Diesel Tractor.
After 86 hours on the third engine my engine just blew some valves and a head gasket.
Its pretty well finished. I have had to deal with a bunch of inequitable dealers.
I leased this tractor for 9200 and have paid 6200 on the lease. I still owe 3200 on the
lease. I have put in 13,250 into the tractor and I have not even had it two years.
After Reading this Post I would like to know what any of you fellow farmers would do.
Dear Chance:
By Receipt of this email I am copying the following
Jim Ackerman - American Capital
Dennis Burton - Burton Farm Implements
Pam Bondi - Florida Attorney General
Matt Huddleston - Huddleston Equipment Company - Wedowee, Alabama
Chance Carpenter - Broken Tractor Company - Baton Rouge, Louisiana
All of you at some point have been involved in this 1993 Ford 3930 45 HP Diesel Tractor Debacle.
First, I bought the tractor from Huddleston Equipment in Wedowee, Alabama for 5950 dollars.
Then within one day it was found that the engine was no good after Huddleston charged me 650 dollars
to deliver the tractor to Florida. So it was obvious there were issues with that first Engine from Huddleston tractor in Wedowee, Alabama.
I had to contact Broken Tractor in Baton Rouge, Lousiana at which point I had to purchase a new engine from them for about 6300 dollars. Then I had to pay Construction Sales in Crestview, Florida
3000 dollars to install it. That was the second engine. Low and behold one day after getting it back
it was found that it had water in the crankcase and that engine was no good. So no hours at all on the
second engine.
Well, so I contacted Broken Tractor again at which point Chance Carpenter agreed to replace that engine with another third engine from Houston which he did and he agreed to pay for that reinstall which he did.
So now I have been on the third engine with the Ford 3930 and now that engines Head Gasket is now
blown after just 86 hours. That happened today.
The only people that I have any respect for at all in this entire matter is Burtons Farm Equipment in
Dothan, Alabama and that is because they were honest and straight forward with me.
I have spent 6950 dollars on this tractor lease with American Capital. I still owe 3000 on the tractor lease.
However, I have had to spend 13,950 dollars to fix this tractor in addtion to paying for the lease on a tractor that I don't even own. That is a total of close to 20,000 dollars on a tractor that should have only cost me 5950, but because of inepitude first on the part of Huddleston Equipment and now on Broken Tractor Company I have no tractor to keep my 210 acres kept up with. So what is the lesson here. First
the Attorney General in Florida needs to enforce the law as it pertains to issues like this because this is flat out wrong.
Chance, you are going to have to replace this engine as well. I mean I can not continue to keep doing this replacement of your engines. We are now on your second engine and it blown as well after 86 hours. So that is the first thing that needs to be replaced at your expense. I am so disgusted. You have no idea.
Jim, I can not continue to pay on tractor that I have had to pay 13,950 dollars over the cost of the lease which I have now paid 6000 on out the 9250 that you say I owe. This is not right and needs to be corrected.
What I want to do is get Chance to replace this engine on the Ford 3930 at his earliest convenience because right now is sitting on in my pasture because I don't dare drive it back less I create anymore engine issues that I should not be having. Right now I have no tractor to use on my farm.
What I want to do is once Chance replaces this engine and it is back to normal I want Jim to call
Burtons Farm Equipment and work out some sort of a deal to apply the value of the restored Ford 3930 tractor after Chance gets the engine fixed toward the cost of another tractor they may have over in Dothan that I can trust won't have these issues over and over again. We will have to put this new tractor on the lease agreement once Chance gets the new engine installed in my tractor sitting in my pasture.
Right now it is using oil like no ones business and this is just after 86 hours, and this was supposed to correct the other engine that was doing the same thing.
Of course Huddleston Equipment managed to weasel there way out of this matter. With all the parts I have had to replace I am better off with a better tractor from Burtons Equipment and Jim Burton who is really the only one I can trust in these matters.
Chance, I want to hear from you on this matter on Monday and Jim I would appreciate it if you contacted Burtons Equipment to see if we can work out a deal for a tractor of similar value over in Dothan that I can trade in this Ford 3930 with a new engine toward.
Chance you will be hearing from me on Monday.
