I am looking at a Ford Cabover truck. It is in great condition. I dont have a pic but this one is what the front looks like and it has a 25ft flatbed on it. What do you think its worth and can I have the frame and bed shortened to 12ft or so???

This truck can be fully loaded with steel pipe and still had enough power to pull a tag trailer with full size case 580K backhoe around.

Thanks for all comments.

Yes that pic looks similar but this one would only have a single rear axle with dual tires. I have a dealer in the area that stretches and shortens frames.

I think these trucks were made in Brazil. My neighbor had one as a box truck and it gave him lots of problems.

A couple of thoughts; I would make sure the truck has a locking rear. Won't give you much but it's sure better than not. I would go with at least 16' of bed or hardly any at all. I had twelve feet of bed on the FL70 I just sold. With an extended cab, twelve feet vs the ease of getting around did not balance out at least for me. Twelve feet fills up real fast yet makes it hard to get around the tight spaces. If and when I go with a medium duty truck again, I will go with a short wheelbase with a flatbed up to the gooseneck ball and rely on the trailer. The short flatbed would be space to walk across the frame rails safely and to sit a toolbox and/or aux fuel tank on for my tractor fuel.

Those trucks typically were 210 HP. That's a heck of a load for 210. Good luck with hills. I do it with 250+ HP in my IH and it doesn't like hills.

I haven't seen one for a while. I think the cabs are made by Nissan or some other foreign company. Never heard anything special about them, but it would make a nice city truck for tight parking.
