Are there any name brand filters that can be used or just th New Holland brand?

After I bought my used tractor, the first thing I did was change all the fluids and filters. If you go to the Wix filter website, they have a great list of filters for all vehicles. I beleive Wix makes Napa filters, so you can go to your local Napa and get them cross referenced quite easily. I crossed referenced the engine oil filter on my TC 40 to a Fram model that I can get at the local W Mart.

Although you won't find a direct cross to it, I've been using a Motorcraft FL-300, on first my 1988 1720, and now on my TC-40D forever. Size and fit are nearly identical to the original 1720 filter, which unfortuneately now has shrunk to the same miniture size used on my lawn tractor. The FL-300 is still full-sized.

the wix pn is 51521 and yes it's much bigger than the filter NH sells now (pn 87415600)
