1998 gator 4x6

I have a chance to pick up a 98 with cab and snowblade for $600.00. Sounds cheap...right? It is a basket case. Used as a salt dispenser it needs a total restoration. Should I leave it alone? The body is rough, but feel the undercarriage is worth that. Any feedback would be appreciated. I am thinking winter project.

Salt will rust anything and everything, I would look under it really good with a good bright lite, be careful

you can buy it if it runs and sell it out in parts and make your money back. to me 600.00 is pretty good deal. how many hours does it have ? parts can be replaced and the frame can be patch welded or filler welded and buffed down and it would be stronger than new. so the rust shouldn't be a problem. the biggest thing is engine and transmission.

What would be the total cost for restoration and how many hours will it require for restoration. The total sum will give you an idea whether $600 is a good deal or not.

Basket case meaning pretty bad case of rust. The bid I have on this is between me and another guy. I am thinking that the parts are worth that, with the blade. I do some welding both mig and stick. Figure there is nothing I probably cannot fix. I also can use the undercarriage and construct my own body. No hour meter, engine and trans good. Needs the carb overhauled.

if the engine and transmission is good and you can weld the rest can be fixed . i would buy it.

Well I won the the bid ($600.00). I guess I will be picking it up soon. I will try to send pictures. It really is a rust bucket. Hope I can least come out even in the event I chose not to do the restoration. Are parts hard to come by with the gators? I mainly just want to make it usable maintenance vehicle. I am not trying to win a show. I have 69 acres of timber that I need a good strong vehicle to maintain. Do the 6x4's get around any better then the 4x4's? How well do they pull a trailer? What are the John Deere snow blades worth? I am just trying not to get buyers remorse. Make me feel better.
