Buying Advice 1998 JD 870 with 30 hrs vs New

The JD service manuals and advertising only show one engine for the 870.

As mentioned don't believe everything you see and hear. Look at the chart JD755 has posted, note the discrepancy in the two 4cyl engines, same bore and stroke but somehow the right column shows a high cubic inch displacement. :laughing:

30 hours on a 13 yr old tractor is a bad thing anyhow, probably would need work. Engines are built to work not sit.

Agree stay away from that seller. Did you really mean mid 1980's? First year for the 1070 was 1990. Before that it was the 1050.

The first year for the JD 1070 was 1989. I have one. TractorData.com shows the same.

i wish i wouldn't have sold my 955 two weeks ago i might have been able to get 25k for it. it was nice didn't they sell new for 50k i cant quite remember and i bought it used

You are correct. 1989 instead of 1990 was the first year. Thanks for catching that.
