2 air filters or 1

When I went to napa they had 2 air filters listed for my dk40, an inner and outer, but the manual only shows the outer filter. Is anybody running both? I bought and installed both without knowing the manual doesn't even mention the inner filter. Seems to be running fine with both installed.

The older model DK 35 and 40 came with both inner/outer (not the SE)
My 2001 DK 35 has both.
I believe the SE models came with just the outer.
Personally I would run both if its running fine.

Ive been running both in my dk45se for a couple years now, no troubles. I didnt even know there was an inner option until I was cross referencing a Wix filter and saw it had a matching inner.

I have been running both the inner and outer for a couple of years and no issues. it should help more in dusty conditions or so I have been told.

Generally the outer bigger filter is the one you can gently blow out and does the lions share of the work, the inner unit is not "serviceable" and is (iirc) replaced after you've gone through several outer filters. I have 3 machines with this "Donaldson" type air cleaners, none of them on a Kioti though, but clean air is clean air right.
