More than one way to approach winter, at least via John Deere.

I don't think they produced snowmobiles...... maybe sublet their color and decals. The 4110 looks ready for the task. Nice combination..

From what I've heard,, those old JD sleds were built by
Deere at the Horicon WS factory.

I have an old JD300, that someday I want to
restore.. It's been in storage since 1976! so it only
had 2 or 3 years of use...

In their day, they were quite the sleds... and I believe
when they got out of the business, they sold some of
their patents and technology to Polaris... (clutch design ?)

Here's the only pic of mine... unfortunately I haven't touched
it since i got it 2 years ago..

Deere built sleds from the early 70's until 1984. They used Kawasaki engines, but everything else was 100% JD design. Most of their sleds were competitive with the big brands and some were considered leading-edge. The market collasped in the 80's and Deere opted out. I had a 1979 Trailfire and 1980 Liquifire and they were great sleds in their time.

I am told that the Liquifires would really run.

Yes, you are correct that they were Deere-built machines.

I purchased a 340 Liquifier new in 1976. Loved it. Changed the gearing to get more low end for two up. Still would get 60mph. Really tough to stick, but if you did, it was a handfull.
