How many hooks should be on the bucket? I've got a 72" bucket. Where the hydraulic cylinders mount up is pretty thick. So I was going to go with two there, but then people have told me that you should have three.

How what is a good size box blade for a TC40D? 60"? 72"?
Smaller will cut through the hard stuff better right?

I have three hooks on my HD bucket without additional reinforement (center and ends). I use them mostly to pick up limbs and pull fence posts with a chain.

Whatever rear implement you use in the rear, it's best if you cover your tire tracks. Therefore, minimum 72" is the best way to go for non-angling implements like a box blade and minimum 84" for angling implements like scraper blade or york rake.

I run 4 3/8" hooks on the upper edge of my 72" bucket. I like 4 because I can make 2 independent chain loops to pick up almost anything. The upper lip of the bucket was filled in with a strip of metal for reinforcement before welding on the hooks.

I run a 96" box blade on my Ford/ NH 2120 which is only somewhat larger than your TC40. I've used it for over 10 years and I like the width.

you might mention in this thread that your loader is an M246 Bush Hog so some folks don't think you have a 16LA. On my 16LA loader I made use of some empty pin holes on the loader and it's been all the hooks I've needed.

As far as boxblades, I think I would go for the 72". I had a 60 for my Ford Jubilee and another one that's 66" with no scarifiers. I think I could pull a 72" blade with no problem.
