2\" receiver attachments

Thinking about welding a 2" receiver on the top of my FEL bucket to attach different attachments. Will posters please let me know (with photos) what they have created (besides the obvious trailer ball) so I can get ideas and copy if interesting. Thanks

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

Try the search option. It requires a little bit of effort, but is more effecient than having lots of people go take pictures.

Another idea is to start a thread called something like POST YOUR pICTURES OF 2 INCH RECIEVER THINGS.

I did such a post on forks. It has many many posts.

Good luck with your search.

I made a vise and also a cargo carrier for my reciever. Also works on the truck reciever.

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

Here are my receivers. All I have right now is a set of hooks. One of these days I am going to make a spill guard to go into them if I ever have time.

Thanks for photo; Did not think to install more than one; first idea is to mount three.

I hoped most posters would already have photos of there project. I did a search but it was not giving me much in results.

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

Forks are one idea I hope can be attached to a 2" receiver ( or two)

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

I've been looking at doing this for a long time, one thing is I want to (Once the shop floor is in and done) start building a few items for myself one being a grapple, for this reason I was thinking 3 of them spaced across my bucket so that the grapple section could slip into these instead of needing perminate brackets on top. that way boom poles , forks, ect could all use these as upper attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

though for strenght reasons I was looking at using a 3/8" x 10" x 48" hunk to reinforce the bucket top and attach the misc reciever tubes too. (top of my buucket is about 10" I think so sizes above are just for referance.)

anyhow I have to get the barn done this spring/summer so I can move items in better than just gravel and no lights now ect.

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

You may want to check the latest Northern Tool Catalog. One came in the mail just this evening and there are more than a couple of receivers for buckets (clamp type). maybe you can get an idea or two from their products.

Re: 2\" receiver attachments

I will try to post a pick soon. I posted a pic of some forks I built yesterday. I have a 1.125" rolled rod across the top of my bucket. With that the top of my bucket is strong. I have a 2" receiver under the rod in the middle. I built a jib poll that goes past my bucket about 6’. On the end I have a plate welded with a chain hook on the end. In the plate there is a hole that I use a large shackle for cable slings. The pole is mad of 1/4" x2" square. I have a gusset across the top made of 2"x1/4" strap. It is made to were the gusset goes to the back of the pole behind the receiver.
To in stall in the receiver you slide in while pulling up on the back of the gusset. Once it slides in all the way you pin with the receiver pin. Next come the 2 grade 8 bolts + one 1/2 pin that secure the back of the gusset. It is made strong the gusset is the full length. I know all of this is hard to follow I will try to post a pic soon.
I built this for 2 main jobs. 1st to place the rails and span up for my bridge Crain in my shop. The rails are 50" 8"x13lbs I beam. I needed to pick them up 14'. I also made a pair of I beam tongs that I hang on the chain hook of the pole.
2nd was I used to harvest pecans we would load the nuts in large super sacks 2000lbs+. The bottom of the sack would have to be picked up 5' off the ground to run the nuts in the cleaner. So the had to bee higher than just the FEL would go.

I have not made me a hayfork yet for the receiver, but I am soon.
