I have some chain on forks that I use way more than I thought I would. I am going to mount a receiver on top of the bucket. How could I use it to secure the forks? I am up for a little welding if anyone has a bright idea.

I am trying to picture in my mind what it is your trying to do. I am not familiar with chain on forks. I am guessing the forks will mount to the receiver instead of the chain attachment? I am also guessing using a pin with the 5/8 pin hole won't work.

Do you have a picture of what you have now. If you need to clamp the forks into the receiver I would weld a minimum 1/4 in plate to the top side of the receiver and drill two holes, weld on 2x1/2 nuts and you can also tap the holes for extra grip. The extra plate keeps the receiver tube from bending when you clamp the forks down.

All the leaf springs on my tracked dumper are attached. While I welded nuts inside, you could weld them on top if you need the full two inches inside the tube.

Like this?

This is exactly how I plan to mount the receiver. The chain on forks mount on the cutting edge of the bucket and come all the way around. They have 1.5" square hollow riser that keeps material from rolling into the bucket. I was thinking about inserting a pipe into the risers an welding them into a horizontal with a piece of 2" that I can lock into the receiver with a pin. I will have to put a heel on the forks at the back of the bucket in order to keep them from sliding forward.

It just seems too complicated.

Post a pic of your forks attached to the bucket. I'll come up with a hillbilly idea after seeing what you have to work with.

You may be able to stabilize them with the receiver, but sounds like you will need to continue using the chains/ clamp system to hold them. But even stabilising them would be a big help, as I understand those forks have a tendency to move around.

I made my forks, They can be mounted in the bucket with a pin through the receiver or I can mount them on the 3 pt. in back. Note that mine are fixed width and not adjustable but for most anything I lift they work fine.

That's what I'm talking about.

I did this

then used 4' pieces of 2x2x1/4" tubing as forks. They are quick and easy to install.
