I'm looking for a Kubota snowblower that is bigger than 72" wide (preferably 78" or bigger) and would like to know if there is a way to tell by the model number, if it is a single stage or 2 stage blower. I've never had a 2 stage blower but have read some negative comments about them so would prefer a single stage. I currently have an old single stage Meteor blower that is 75" wide and with the new tractor it is barely wider than the rear tires plus it does not throw snow well. Well it didn't with the 47 hp Massey I had before this. I haven't had a chance to use it with the new Kubota but really don't expect it to be much better with this tractor.

A two stage blower has the fan and the auger(s) rotating a different speeds. Fan at pto speed (rear 540 rpm) and the auger much slower.

A single stage has the snow throwing part made as part of the auger and the auger is rotated fast in order to throw snow.

Most farm tractor blowers today are two stage to get the most out of the available power.

Some really large blowers as used by municipalities on the front of a Michigan loader are single stage with its own engine.

Kubota had some fan belt driven single stage blowers in its early years in North American but they soon were replaced with two stage units
