The lavendar is blooming and the honey bees are going nuts! It is nicethough they never comeup on our patio, jsut hang out at the lavendar. I got one wasp nest that was underneath the patio table and now have no wasps by the front of the house. i ahve a few on the back patio but not much.

Some day, when i ahve time, i'm going to try and figure out hw to track bees back to their hive. Theri honey must be fantastic as the bees always come around for the almond bloom and the lavendar bloom, i am positive the honey msut taste fantastic. they sell lavendar honey in France and it is quite expensive.

Again, that IS the best advice, even with the workers. I'm now in worker killing mode as there are a few out. I hung a trap in my usual location in a tree 50' from my back porch. Nothing. While sitting on the back porch, I saw a couple hovering above the ground. I moved the trap to a corner of the patio and about 18" off the ground ... caught 2 in 24 hours.

BTW, for others posting, I have no idea what this thread has to do with honey bees, any other kind of bees, paper wasps, et al, we're talking about stinging AND biting yellow jackets.

One observation that I've made with my traps are that I've seen ants hauling the yellow jacket corpses out of the trap. So you may actually be getting yellow jackets, just that the ants get them before you do.
Also, it seems that the attractant cartridges work better than the drops on the cottom ball.

Been looking for some cartiridges for a couple weeks now with no luck. Everyone around here only sells the little tubes of attractant. Anyone know an on-line source?

we msut have lazy wasps in Provence. I got another small nest on the back patio but it was small, probably only 10 cells with larve in them. I knwo I ahve another small nest up i the cement block above the kitchen window. then my husband informed me tonight there is a small wasp nest in the little opening where you open that small door to the gas tank fo the car. Fuuny enough out of 3 cars 2 of them have wasps nest right behind that small door where you pump gas into the cars. The nests are all small though, that is why I think the wasps must be kind of lazy. to lazy to build a big colony. At this time of year do the queens ever leave the nest? I am wondering if it is to late to put out atactant. I tried to buy some i France but they don't sell any here. i would ahve to buy it on line and have my daughter mail it to me.

I got stung 2 days ago and it didn't even get as big as a mosquito bite. My husband got bit ad his whole arm swelled up. figures he has a lot of allergies. But for me it is never any worse than a super osquito bit. y trick is immediatly after getting bit I ice it down or at least 30 inutes. If I do that I never even get much of a sore at all.
