2000 4300 collar shift will not move

my wife was using the tractor over the holiday and told me something was wrong. The tractor will not move any gear and pto will not spin. When i look under the tractor the main shaft going from the clutch? to the trans will not spin regardless of the clutch peddle position. Pushing the tractor by hand in gear will move the shaft. It seems to be a clutch problem. Tractor was low on hydro fluid. will try adding some tonight, if damage isn't already done. Any help would be appreciated. Owen.

Well added some fluid and it didn't help, no big surprise. If no other suggestions it is being towed off to the dealer, may just do it anyway, i understand a dry auto type clutch but a wet clutch i have no idea. thanks. Owen.

Actually the clutch is not in the flywheel on these but it is in the front of the transmission. If your shaft is not spinning, the damper assembly in the flywheel will probably need replacing. These usually get noisy before they fail. Did you notice any rattling or vibration especially at low engine speeds? The part you need is LVA13911. I attached a picture. It is item number 3.

Yes it did make a low idle speed noise, thank you for the information it looks like that is it. JD lists the part at 370 i will check on the install. Thanks for the info owen.

Owen, a request if you please... My same era 4400 will need a clutch soon. Any & all pics you can take of the process would be greatly appreciated (if you're doing the repair yourself).
