Hi folks. I'm looking for a little help here.

I'm in Massachusetts and today I looked at a 2000 Deere 4600. Loader, forks, grader/plow, york rake, 613 (638?) 7' rotary cutter, and a post hole digger for the tidy sum of $14.5. The tractor has a fairly nice, heated, factory cab. The tractor itself, aside from an oddly (to me) slow bucket raise/dump cycle time, it in beautiful shape with about 1500 hours.

I am pretty confident that this is a good price for the whole setup.

My question is, what ROUGHLY what is the tractor/loader worth?

My plan is to get this one, and sell my current 4310 and the 4600 and buy a brand new 4120.

Thanks!

Got my answer.. called the dealer, told me it'd go on the lot for about $17 - $18,000.

So it's not a bad deal by any means!

Sounds like a good deal, but I am 99.9% sure there was NO "factory cab" for that model-it must be a after market add on.

Take a look at machinefinder (.com) for your area - that will give you a ood ballpark number.

I bought a 4600 with 400 hours last year for 21,900 in Vermont. The machine had a JD 48 backhoe which I figured to be worth 5-6 thousand. I have been very happy with the machine. I did own tractor before purchase. If you decide to trade later , I might be interested in the cab. Good luck on your purchase.

It looks like the cab is actually a Curtis. I had thought it was a factory cab based on the fit and lack of name plate anywhere. I came to this conclusion as the tractor was bought locally and the owner had bought a Curtis cab through the dealer.. logic suggests...

Jcotta: Come up with a price on the cab, I have no intention of keeping this machine. I am buying it for the implements that it comes with. I'll then be selling this one and my existing tractor for a new 4120.

thanks for the links, to Equipment/machine finder. I am quite familiar with those 2 sites. They are good, except that you don't know what things ACTUALLY sell for. There can be a huge difference between an asking/posting price and reality!
