Newbie here. I have using this site for awhile now and appreciate all the great info.:) I have been considering an upgrade from my current Gravely 20G Professional with 48" snowplow and 50" lawn mower deck to the JD Line. One of the local dealers has a 2000 JD 4100 with Turf tires, 410 loader with 53" bucket. It has 2573 hours on it and has been fully restored. Their price $7,995.00. I have two questions.

Where can I go to get a approx value of my Gravely? I cant seem to find anywhere/anyone that can give me a approx value.

Next, Is the price of the 4100 "in line" or not?

The price for the 4100 seems a little high considering the amount of hours on it. Is it hydrostatic drive or gear? Hydros typically have a higher resale value than gears. Myself coming from a 4100 hst I think they are great little tractor. Check the front axles for leaks, that was a weak point for mine. With that many hours also check the loader for wear on the pins in the joints and cylinders, mine seemed to be fairly loose even though I lubed it religiously. If it's a gear transmission be aware that it has a live pto meaning that whenever you push the clutch in to stop or change gear the pto stop as well. The hst has an independent pto and will continue to run until you turn it off. In my opinion the hst is the way to go. I would still have my 4100hst but wanted a cab and more horse power. They are great tractors. Welcome to the site, you'll find a huge wealth of information here and some great life experience.

You have an excellent tractor with the Gravely. I don't know if the JD is an upgrade in toughness or not v. this machine. My father has an 8193KT with over 3000 hours on it and it still runs well and cuts great. The best way I can fathom to get an accurate assessment of the "real world" value of your Gravely is to contact Mark Shubert at Johnnie Shubert, Inc in Newton, NC. They sell a lot of Gravely's and have many used machines such as yours they have taken on trade. Mark would have solid insight as to the value of your machine. Hope this helps, and by the way, I am a fan of both Gravely AND JD products.

I have the 60" bucket on my 4100 410. I originally wanted the 53" bucket, but the dealer didn't have one in stock. I took the 60" with the dealer promising to swap it out if I really didn't like it.

Its easy to overfill the bucket with something like heavy wet clay such that the tractor can't lift it, but thats easy enough to avoid once you learn the limitations of the machine. For anything else, and especially for smoothing/spreading, the extra width is helpful.

My 4100 HST is a 1999. I bought it used in 2001 with 400-some hours for $11,000 (if I remember right) with the 60" mower deck, 54" blade, and it came with a rotary broom that I thought I would sell off, but ended up keeping. I added the 410 loader and a snowblower later.

Mine also had the 60" bucket and I liked it as well. How do you like the rotary broom? I've got a long paved driveway that comes off of a dirt road. This time of year you bring a lot of dirt up the drive and into the garage, It would be nice to be able to sweep it off especially when company is coming over.

Nuru,

There is no appreciable difference between the 410 and 200XX loader except for the curved arms, and the 53" bucket is a perfect match.
.

KennyD, yes that is correct, but when you are selling or trading in, the 200CX brings a higher price and is likely to have a lot less hours than a 410 would.

My 2001 4100, also had a 61" loader bucket, but it was on a 200CX loader I purchased later. Worked very well just others are saying, especially after you learn the limitations of that combo.
