Yes, it is rated at the plate, not the bucket, so they are conservative with their ratings.

So if that were true, and you have a bucket on it. it would pick up the same weight less the weight of the bucket open or closed?..... jim

No because you have to take into account leverage, the complication of the geometry of the loader arms etc.

So with us doing an addition to our garage for storage, an old '85 chevy pickup that's been rotting into the dirt for 15+ years has to go. I'm saving the engine, transmission and transfer case for other projects, but the bed with cap had become a catch-all for scrap metal. It needs to go!
Ran an airline out and surprisingly the tires pumped up and I tried to pull it out of it's depressions with the PT425. Wouldn't move. Hooked the '93 Suburban to it in low range and dragged it a few feet. Left rear wheel locked up. Brake frozen. (I knew it wasn't in PARK, and the driveshaft has been removed years ago). Must be brake drum. Used the PT425 to lift the left rear bumper and removed the tire and rim. Put rim under leaf spring and set it back down. Proceeded to beat the drum for 15 minutes and got it removed. Removed all brake parts, reinstalled tire and rim. Pumped everything up with air again and was able to drag it out with the PT425.
Steering on the truck is frozen straight! So I used a combination of dragging forward with PT425, then lifting rear end with PT425 and scooting it over. Then pushing backward, scoot. Push forward, scoot till I got it to where it needs to be to remove the engine.
Truck weighs around 5000#. So about 1250 per corner. Figure more weight is in the front than the back, so again, comes out to around 900# lift at the QA plate.
Anyhow, it sure was handy that the little machine can scoot the rear end of a pickup truck around with not too much problem.
I tried it on the front end.... no go. Rear came off the ground.
