2002 5310 MFWD w 540 Loader (Anyone Have One?)

Looking at a deal here locally and would like to get someones opinion on this tractor and what I need to be looking for.

He is asking $20,000.00 for everything. My only scare is this is an 11 year old tractor, regardless of the low hours. Does anyone have any knowledge of problems with this series of tractors? It was only used to mow a 20 acre property.

i cant tell you about the JD tractor.but heres what i can tell you,the 24ft gooseneck flatbed is worth $5000 give or take.an if the shredder an BB have been taken care of like the tractor they are worth $2000 give or take.so that only leaves $13,000 for the tractor an loader.for a new 6ft brand name shredder your looking at $2500 or more.a good stout BB new $1000 or more.

That's borderline to good to be true in my area. If it operates as it should it seems fair to me.

I have a 99 MFWD 5210 with 540 and sync-shuttle transmission. I am very happy with it and it has done everything I have asked of it with easy. I do wear ear protectors, if I am going to be using it for awhile. I have never had any problems starting even down to 20 degrees.

That sounds like a very fair price with the trailer. I would check the serial number to confirm the year as I think that model ended in 2001. Tractordata has year / serial number bottom of the page. Also include a JD URL on the year. Once you have the serial number I would call your local JD dealer and ask that they share with you who the owner is.

You can look at machinefinder.com, tractorhouse.com and fastline.com to compare prices.

210 hours is low, I would make sure it has the original instrument cluster. I have include a URL to the owners manual.

Thanks guys for the info. I will check into everything.

I know that it has only had one owner and he is selling the property so he has no use for the equipment anymore. I will be going to look at it very soon and will take photos. He doesn't seem to be pulling my leg, he just seems like he doesn't want to mess with dealing with it on the used market and it wanting to get rid of it to someone.

I have a 5310 with almost 4200 hours, only thing needed was a clutch and oil and filters. The 2.9 Liter engine in the 5310 is a great engine, It exhaust burns cleaner than the new 5E's that use the same engine.

Eleven years old for a tractor is nothing to be concerned about imo. If the tractor suits your needs and you like it I would buy it. Don't think you will find many deals like this and others may buy it out from under you.
