Hello. This weekend I had my tractor running, when I turned on headlights it killed the tractor after they where on a few moments, no power to dash, after another few moments the power is back, like a relay reset? tractor will start. Turn on headlights and its like I just shut off key, and again set there a moment and I am able to start and run fine, as long as I leave lights off, I have tested battery, and checked the ground on frame, both are fine.

Thanks for any help on this, Bigdawg1230. bigdawg1230@msn.com

It sounds like a previous owner(?) has placed a auto reset circuit breaker in the fuse near the starter. This is normally a 30 amp fuse or breaker and may have been upped to a 40 amp (later models). Check that location for the circuit breaker and if it does, you know why it resets. Now you have to decide if there is a short in the light system. I would check the fuses behind the right side panel and #3 would be the main light fuse and 20 amps. See if it has been increased or altered, and replace it with a 20 amp. Now try the lights with just the key in the ON position and see what blows, if anything and that circuit is the problem. If nothing blows, try the 40 amp replacement by the starter. Good luck!!!!

Hello,
I was able to work on my tc33d this weekend, all of the fuses are correct and good. but the lights will stay on if motor is not running!! What I did here was a cherping noise coming from alternator when I started motor, then it would stop cherping after a few moments. Then when I turn on lights the alternator would make cherping noise. then it would cut tractor off. I wonder if a bearing is gone bad, maybe causing a short ?? thanks for help,,

You say you "tested" the battery,
with a volt meter, you should have about 12.5 volts on the battery when the tractor is NOT running.
You should have about or close to 14 volts when the tractor is running.
Test it again, "not running", then start er up and test it,
then while still testing it, have someone turn the lights on and see what the voltage says.
A "chirping" sound like you described sounds like a "load" being put on the alt.
My guess would point towards the alternator, you could always remove it and have it tested.
